With political pressure looming, the vibrant 1970s gay club scene finds support in the most unexpected place,

...the Mob.

In the pulsating heart of 1970s St. Louis, amidst the glitz and glamor of the city’s blossoming gay club scene, a vibrant and clandestine world thrives under the neon lights. The show delves into the lives of diverse characters who find refuge, identity, and community within these underground establishments. Against the backdrop of disco beats and the shimmering allure of nightlife, tensions simmer as political forces, driven by conservative backlash, intensify their crackdown on the very existence of these clubs. Police raids become frequent, sparking fear and defiance among patrons and owners alike, who refuse to be silenced or driven into obscurity.

Amidst this turmoil, an unexpected alliance emerges in the form of organized crime. Recognizing the profitability and relative peace of the gay clubs as compared to their other ventures, local mob bosses' step in to protect their valuable clients. They form a complex web of clandestine agreements. This alliance, however tenuous, brings an uneasy partnership offering financial support and leveraging their influence to shield the clubs from law enforcement and political adversaries', as club owners navigate the dangerous waters between police scrutiny and the protection racket.

At the center of the narrative are characters navigating their own personal journeys of self-discovery, love, and survival. From the charismatic club owners and performers who defy societal norms to the patrons seeking solace and freedom on the dance floor, each episode unravels the intricacies of their lives against the backdrop of a city in flux. As friendships deepen, romances ignite, and ambitions clash, the show portrays a rich tapestry of human resilience and solidarity in the face of adversity. Ultimately, it celebrates the courage and defiance of a community determined to carve out a space of acceptance and joy amid the shadows of prejudice and persecution
